Our society is changing at a rapid pace. Traditional organisational models cannot cope with this and this is causing problems. Much of this is attributed to so-called Disruptive Digital Technologies. But is this actually true, or should we look for the cause in ourselves? In addition, the question arises whether our current organisational models are still useful at all. Or will they actually get in our way in the future?

The organisation of the future is built-to-adapt rather than built-to-last. They have no formal structure but the form of a self-organising network, like natural swarms. They use distributed leadership and collective intelligence to make decisions in the here and now to achieve common goals. This makes swarm organisations extremely agile; they thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
